Trauma Therapy
“Trauma is not what happens to us, but what we hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witness.”
— Peter Levine
Trauma is a deeply personal and often complex experience that can have profound effects on an individual's emotional, psychological, and physical well-being. I recognise the importance of providing compassionate and effective care that honours the unique journey of each person impacted by trauma.
Trauma can arise from a wide range of experiences, including but not limited to, physical or sexual abuse, neglect, accidents, natural disasters, and interpersonal violence. It's important to recognise that trauma is not solely defined by the event itself, but also by the individual's subjective experience of it. What may be traumatic for one person may not be traumatic for another, highlighting the importance of honouring each person's unique perspective and response to trauma
In my practice, I approach trauma therapy with a deep respect for the resilience and strength of each individual. While the journey of healing from trauma may follow certain principles and evidence-based techniques, I believe that the path to recovery is as unique as the individuals themselves. Therefore, my approach is always tailored to meet the specific needs, preferences, and goals of each person I work with.
Through a collaborative and client-centred approach, I create a safe and supportive space where individuals can explore their experiences, process their emotions, and develop coping strategies to navigate the challenges they face. I work closely with each client to identify the techniques and interventions that resonate most deeply with their healing journey.
Moreover, I understand that healing from trauma is not just about addressing the past, but also about building resilience and fostering a sense of empowerment in the present moment. Therefore, I integrate strength-based approaches and mindfulness practices to help clients cultivate self-awareness, self-compassion, and a greater sense of agency in their lives.
While the journey of healing from trauma may be challenging, it is also a journey of transformation and growth. By providing individualised and compassionate care that honours the uniqueness of each person's experience, I am committed to supporting clients on their path toward healing, resilience, and reclaiming their sense of wholeness and vitality.
